Russian long jumper Darya Klishina was born in Tver, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union in 1991. Darya began practicing athletics at the young age of eight before deciding on her preference for the long jump at the age of 13. She has been to countless World and European Championships spanning from 2007 to the present. She has earned a total of seven gold medals, one silver medal, and one bronze medal during this time. She holds a Russian junior record for a jump of 7.03 meters in 2010.
Darya was the only Russian athlete allowed to compete at the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Summer Olympics due to the suspension of the Russian national federation from competition due to a breach of anti-doping policy. Darya was given permission to compete by the IAAF through special permission.
